While we wait or guard ?

Amari would nod in response to the request for tea, “Of course, Mistress. We have many kinds of tea.” He had started to list them when she changes her mind, “Of course, Mistress. Perhaps when she is able to take time to speak with you I will make you both some lovely tea and an omurice for each of you as well.” he’d say with a smile and a tilt of his head. If it weren’t for how cloudy his eyes were in that moment one might even think he could see the woman he was speaking to.

Karrie nodded, “Yes, and some honey in mine as well…Have you been here long, I have never seen you before.” a turn and a flinch as the man enters.”Welcome to the Dragon’s Den, Sir” was offered as she moved closer. “Is there some way we can help you?” The free woman spoke quietly, her sultry voice reaching out as a siren’s song to the handsome fellow.

Crow moved inside silently. His eyes would register those there. The man was very heavily armed. There was reason for it. But those reasons were only known to him. As he positioned himself he would simply stand there. He watched as the woman approached but did not reply in voice. His eyes were searching for hers. Perhaps in his eyes there was enough to scare or have someone stop. “Do I look like a man that needs help in any way ?” his voice held a certain degree of charm yet it was also void of something that might make it a joke or jest.

Amari smiles warmly to the woman, “I have been here a few hands. I was purchased as a gift for my mistress before the Brothel became fully her own business.” he’d explain. He had not seen the man enter as he was focused on the woman he also had not heard him which was unusual as Amari tended to hear better then he saw. He’d turn a suspicious gaze toward the man when he hears his voice, “Tal Master.” He of course recognized that voice from when he had made visits to the black court with his previous owner, “Are you here for my Mistress, Master?” he’d ask in his usual soft spoken tone.

Karrie was not obtuse, and yet, as he chin rose slightly is was as if she did not wish to show the fear she was feeling, even before that heavily armed man. “I have to say that when a man enters a brothel, he may look many different ways” Looking for a mark, since his clothing was dark and seeing none she went on. “So not it is not by your look that I ask, but by your actions, that of stepping across the threshold of a brothel for food, os drink or companionship? Conversation perhaps. Even if a man does not like to talk, sometimes the soothing voice of a woman can be a delight. Sometimes just to look around or search for someone, as well.. With a glance to Amari, a frown crossed her smooth features before returning an unfliching gaze to Crow

Crow would have his eyes drift from Karrie to Amari. “At times I wonder …” he started. “Here I think I am very much self concisions. Very much determined to do what I need to do and yet I am questioned as if I am in need of help.” his hand would move to rest upon the pommel of his gladius. As Karrie spoke his attention would be upon her. As if the rest of the world no longer existed. He truly listens to hear and he even nodded to some of her words. “Fair enough. And yet … ” he held pause. “I am here as a riddle, since I do not wish to share my purpose of being here. Does that make you both uncomfortable?” he asks. His voice held no taunt or unkindness. It was as if the killer wanted to set some terms on his presence and yet did not want them be uncomfortable.

Amari smirks in response to the cryptic words of the man, “It does not make me uncomfortable, Master. I have survived other owners and if it is her time I will survive this owner as well.” He’d state simply it was true he had been a slave a long time and seen several owners fall to the blade of another, “I only asked so I could inform you she is currently in a private meeting and may be a moment, Master.” he’d smile and then turn back to his meal offering a deferential bow of his head before he does so.

Karrie stepped closer to the man, she was bold, perhaps because she was desperate. All of her belongings as well as her family were lost at sea. She was a metal worker and had made jewelry and not all jewels all precious metals, the silver and gold were lost. She had 2 choices, slavery or …the brothel and so she chose to wear a mask and serve in this place. One hand reached out slightly, palm down in the direction of his own grip on the pommel of his weapon. Another look to Amari and listening to what he had to say before…”Now sir, why would I ever want to make you uncomfortable, yourself? When my only wish is to bring comfort, and solace to any and all that enter this building. If here as a riddle, is it one that is to be solved or do you wish to remain an enigma?” she said head tilting, a Mona Lisa smile gracing her lips. “I will leave you to your own company if that is your wish.”

Vespera walked into the brothel. She had been wearing resplendent silks before that were magnificent adornments of wealth, but after the evenings of the morning leaving her entirely flustered. She stripped that down, and went with the chain-me-to-a-wall-and-face-fuck-me look. Ring-gag worn as necklace included. She just stood there, shifting her eyes about. There that one again, whom so happened to witness her being choked the fuck out by braggart. Fucking wary of that man. She turned gaze to Amari and smiled at him. If she caught his gaze, she’d wink nice and slowly just to manifest tomes of how much she liked to make him blush.

Crow arched a brow that only the question to them being uncomfortable was addressed or questioned. He would take the words of Amari for what they were. The information shared, something he guessed as his informants told him that she was here. Whatever she did inside – was not his business. Nor did it have his interest. When Karrie approached and would move her hand outwards towards him, his eyes became stern as to stop her motion. If she would move to close his hand would grip hers firm and perhaps painful to her. His strength in the mere gesture of gripping her hand considerable. But if she stopped in time he would not grab her. Crow was no fool. He could guess as to what ever was going on. So when the woman spoke of her being anything he desired if he wished he pondered. “I enjoy being an enigma.” he stated in final.

Amari hearing a sound near the entrance he’s turn and not being able to make out Vespera he’d notice the flesh tones blob and assume a slave, “Come in I have prepared breakfast.” He’d quickly plate up a fresh omurice for the slave girl setting a spoon with it, “It is a pani dish called omurice. I hope you enjoy it” as he slides the plate to the far side of the bar from himself. He’d take another bite of his own meal happily enjoying the fact his mistress was so willing to feed him properly. He’d swallow his bite and chirp up with a, “And a handsome enigma at that Master or at least that is what the slave gossip is I have never got my hands on you to tell myself.” he’d snicker a bit and then take another bite of the omurice.

Karrie was a free woman and as such would not answer every single thing that man said as if a slave. She had not reached out to touch his weapon at all, instead it was a motion to say his hand from withdrawing it, if he had thought it a threat when it was not all. When he said that he enjoyed being an enigma , her eyes lifted to his own, expecting cold, veiled look of a man that was humorless and found something a slight bit deeper. “Then that makes two of us” she said reaching up to the mask she wore, dipping her chin in a silent salute as she moved away, glancing to Amari again, as he seemed much more comfortable than she

Vespera walked over to the counter, to take the omelet of pani origin. She look a prong and would at the least get a bite to what were offered. She hummed in delight for a moment a singular glance to Crow as she gave a thought to wonder what his reaction to being figured out might be. Vespera hadn’t but she were curious. She’d glance over to Amari, this time closer just to drift that wink at him slowly again. Smirking a lightly with it. Whilst leaning on the counter eating. A curious gaze to Karrie then, “Greetings, Mistress.” said she with the thought that she’d not seen a masked woman in here before.

Crow would watch Karrie go back to the space she had been in when he entered. At the words of her being an enigma he had followed her a little longer. It was not that he questioned her being a riddle. Surely she was one. But was it one he wished to unravel? Crow caught the wink of Vespera. He did not reply to it but would see when a man enter and leave and turn slightly when what seemed to be a slave come down the stairs and leave the establishment. Surely Crow kept a good eye upon those in this establishment. So perhaps there was a purpose for being here.

Amari smiles hearing the sounds of enjoyment from Vespera, “I am glad you like it.” he’d say happily before taking another bite of his own omurice. Noting Karrie returning he’d try again, “It really is good and healthy, Mistress and I do not know how long my mistress will be in her meeting are you sure you do not wish to just try one?” he’d ask turning his own so she could see that it had a fried rice core made with carrots, ham, peas, and onions and then topped in an omelet with a red vinegary sauce. He’d note the movements of others coming and going but since his vision was so poor he could not see whom they were.

Karrie would dip her chin to the slave girl, “Greetings, will you be working here today?” asked as Amari tempted her once again.”Yes yes, if you insist ” Her smile, a gentle nod and a hand reaching out .. Stomach growling again as she gave in to her baser instincts .”It looks far too good to resist!” Her encounter with the man she now thought os a riddle was shrugged off as she waiting to take a bite.

Vespera just was over there looking all funny. Naked and state of dress looking like she was ready to be an object entirely. The lewd hedonistic kind that really could demonstrate the beautiful objectification of a slave girl. She smiled to Karrie. “Well, no. Not really.” She waved to Amari a moment, “Just visiting my friend here.” said she. Really she was the competition that liked to lay in the tree branch outside, seeing if she could pilfer a silver for pleasure. She glanced to Crow again. His sheer state of non-reaction. So she just gave him a mean face and stuck her tongue out at him playfully for a moment.

Crow was not trying to be mean. In fact he was unmarked – or – well – there was no dagger upon his brow. So when Vespera gave him the evil eye – he feigned being struck and in pain. As if she had thrown an arrow right in his heart and he was now on the edge of being lethal harmed and about to fall down … of course there his act would stop. As he would return his attention to being there – observing.

Amari hearing Karrie cave to wanting some omurice he’d quickly prepare a fresh plate and set a spoon with it before pushing it to her, “One omurice, Mistress, I hope you find it enjoyable.” He’d smile warmly and then take another bite of his own omurice. Hearing Vespera he’d let out a bit of a chuckle, “Friend? I thought you were the hungry tree urt that comes begging for food when you smell my fine cooking.” he’d say teasingly to her.

Karrie was amused by the girl, at least. Saw the face she made toward ‘Riddle’ and dug into the food that Amari had made. Ravenous She had to use some sort of will power to eat slowly as if she was not still the starving woman she had only been a day before. She was offered this food, no one would take it from her, would they? No, no, no one would do that. “Friend is a relative word, little one, most times friend is a word someone uses when someone wants something, I have found. Besides, out in the tree, she could pilfer off those that are on their way to the brothel and eat, Erika’s food.” lifting one shoulder she shrugged. “It is very good is it not?” she said to Vespera and then looking over at the stern man in the corner, she . gestured. She seems to know him and he does not want anything in the brothel, not even drink so perhaps….who know” she said amused. It was not up to her to -guard the gates- of the brothel. She could not even leave, dressed as she was

Vespera watched his feign of heart the frailty manifested in mocking manner as she couldn’t then but help to giggle openly. No, she… giggle…. snorted. It was such a break from the mannerism of silent presence sitting in shadows that she couldn’t help it. Even a bite of food crawled it’s way out of her mouth, falling like a travesty back to her plate. Just to finally catch her breath and look at Amari, laughing huskily to him just to tease, “Oh shoosh, before I make your cock twitch again.” Such a retort it was, as she took that bite again. Only to look at Karrie’s lack of subtlety. “It is. And pilfer? Mistress, I make sure the silver is worth the fuck.” Karian-mouthed dockwhore for sure. She looked to Crow smirking a moment at Karrie’s just not having the awareness of him. “He does as he wishes.”

Crow could be anyone and yet none at the same time. It was as if he mastered not only the skill of a killer but that of one that could pretend to be anyone he desired. The understanding father that would press a kiss to a sore knee when a child had fallen. The stern companion that would question his woman after she had a bruised neck. The lover that made sweet love and caressed his woman tenderly as to taunt her to speak of her desire and yet this man in silence – brooding – void of whatever could make him readable for why he was here. Crow origin from Arian high caste upbringing knew many facets of Gorean life and due to his age came with a ton of experiences. He enjoyed the slave. He had done so on number of occasions. Sure he was one of perhaps few that had not yet fucked the little slut.

Amari smiles as the woman compliments his food he did enjoy people enjoying his cooking. He’d be putting another spoon of food to his mouth when Vespera talks of his twitchy cock. He’d set the spoon down as his face burns up into a bright pink with embarrassment. He’d lower his gaze to the plate as he stammered a bit, “Tha-that was not my fault.”

Karrie chuckled softly, “If you hang about in the tree and snatched would be customers outside of the brothel, you are pilfering from the brothel, not the man. I have no doubt they get their money’s worth from you. I am not celling you a thief of coin, merely ….oh never mind, it does not matter anyway. The food is delicious, and Amari is a treasure, that much is certain.” contentedly she took another bite savoring the flavor as she swallowed with a soft moan. Karrie knew none of what was going on in the man’s mind as he kept to the shadows except .”You should really try Amari’s cooking sometime, if not this visit then another. A smile at the little chef and calmly said”It is really not your fault at all, it does not take much to make a cock wiggle and dance. But don’t you see how happy it makes her to do so? You bring joy into the world just being yourself.” the spoon was put reluctantly down on her plate as she reached over the bar to lace her fingers into his hair gripping it before releasing.”You are a treasure” Before returning to her meal

Vespera smirked a moment looking at Crow again, then to Amari as he just slowed to a halt and looked so flushed upon alabaster flesh that she just were absolutely tickled by his reaction. She turned a glance to Karrie, then to Crow, her devious grin playing over her face. She just slowly to a step, then another to come around the counter, and stood near Amari the. Just pulling her plate across the table just to continue eating. Then she shifted weight in her lean and her hip jut to Amari. Purposely to maybe press again him, “Mhmm, I know, but it’s gorgeous to watch though.” she glance to him a moment. She glanced to Crow, “Oh he never eats, or drinks. I am positive he doesn’t shit or piss either.” She mused a moment, wondering to herself just how that slave was that Vespera saw him with. “Not sure if he fucks either.” She paused, then blurting the question out to him, “Are you even human?” cause Vespera believed in mythical creatures.

Crow (melchior.wardell) had of course taken note of the compliments the food of the slave behind the counter received. When Karrie suggested him to taste them one day or another he would simply nod in acknowledgment. The fact the woman still wished him a good meal was taken to mind. When it came to wiggling cocks he would keep nodding. “Those that do not respond are the ones you should worry about.” he commented. Not that he was asked – but when it came to these matters he could give some insights. When Vespera asked about him being human he grinned “Oh I am … far more than you give me credit for.” he added. He was very much a Gorean man with needs, but was somewhat pleased that none really could tell much about him. Even his visits to the latrine were measured and never at the same time so none would learn his routine.

Amari smiles hearing that the woman really enjoyed the food. He’d lean in to the touch when she grabs his curly white locks, “My mistress enjoys my hair as well, Mistress. Unfortunately a man got his hand tangled in it recently and ripped a chunk out so I had to get it cut shorter.” he’d explain some as to why his locks were shorter then usual. He’d feel the hip bump from Vespera and bump her back, “You know I may look scrawny but I used to pull carts for my mistress in Ar.” he’d say to her as if talking of his strength might make her stop her teasing. Hearing Crow he’d smile that way, “If a passion slave becomes unresponsive they are useless, Master.” he’d say since he was a bred passion slave.

Vespera grinned to Crow then a moment. “Mmmm, I bet he’s packing a big one in all that black.” said she with smirk. Her gaze turning to Amara as she’d notice his silk, so flimsy and easily shreddable. “Well, that’s unfortunate.” said of hair chunks missing, and she had that deviant grin again with a thought. A thought to prove Amari’s words. She’d reach down and with the blatantness that she were, tried to grasp softly at his pale beautiful cock just to pet it once. “Yes, Have to stay responsive, don’t we. Otherwise we’re tossed out like forgotten trash.” Vespera’s ability for self-degradation could not be overestimated. And… right back to eating her meal. All feigning innocence and completely not caring to be successful at it.

Crow kept that grin when Amari spoke “Oh I agree. There was once a pleasure slave in Ar from the Ubar’s garden. Her look alone could make most men melt in lust. The mere sight an aphrodisiac.” he started. “Of course she was much sheltered for those eyes of those she might lure to desires they did not know they might have … I only dared to look through the reflection of my shield. and even than I felt the effects.” he admitted – or – was he just fooling around ? When Vespera moved to the slave Crow could guess to her intents. She was so obvious to him and yet he enjoyed her brazenness and boldness, It held a certain honesty that some had lost and made them less attractive to Crow.

Amari flushes a bit darker at the touch to his cock. It would definitely twitch and jump in her hand. He’d try to look away and take a bite of his food again his plate almost empty by now. He’d finish it off quickly and then let out a slow sigh, “So what else needs doing?” he’d ask he could not see the brothel well with his limited vision and all. Hopefully someone would point out chores to him.

Karrie lifted a brow as Crow spoke and said a lot, as Amari spoke she hopped in, “Any man that does not respond feels himself, that h is useless, but that is not true, always. There is more to a man than that, though you might be hard pressed to convince any man of that. Catching Vespera’s teasing of Amari, just shaking her head while she set her plate down and rubbed her belly . “If you keep feeding me that well, I will get fat!” Then to Vespera. The thought of joining in had crossed her mind when she decided she should not enter into the bantering of slaves. “Do you remember that slave’s name?” she called to the Riddle/Crow before turning to Amari, “Yoou are doing more than your share” a knowing smile sent his way, “unless you -want- to come out from behind the bar.

Vespera just looked at Crow. and she just eyed him with a squint to her gaze. Iridescent as it were and she for a moment felt a tinge of jealousy. “I should meet this pleasure slave.” Yea, so Vespera could murder her in an alleyway maybe. She only then glanced to Karrie with a smile, then to Amari and his question. Just that boldness to blurt out, “There’s still me that needs doing.” Yea she said it.

Crow shook his head at the question “No, the slave was named many things. I do not remember that she was given any special name. “he shared. “For such slaves wars are started … it is dangerous to have such near … many men might no longer think with their ..” he tapped his head but pointed eventually to his crotch. “Thankfully I was trained and tested long and severely to ensure not to be taunted by such.” of course that was only partly true – but hey ! If they think he would share his training here in plain sight – they had read him wrong.

Amari giggles a bit at what Karrie says, “Maybe it will get you more customers, Mistress. I hear some men enjoy a rounder woman, Something about more cushion for the pushin or something.” He’d hear Vespera and laugh even louder, “You know darn well I can’t do that with out orders.” he’d say before reaching out to pinch her along her ribs. Hearing Crow he’s turn his gaze that way and smile, “I remember one like that when I was in Ar she was always friendly to me when our paths crossed.” he’d offer some although he was terrible with names so could not remember any of her names.

Karrie nodded looking down at generous breasts and just shake her head. “As long as the curves are in the right place.s” giving the little slave a smiles , Looking between Vespera and Crow, Perhaps you were in Ar at the same time, perhaps all of you were. I was in Ar once, had a shop there we did very well” she said then her voice trailing off .

Vespera was looking at Crow a moment, she had this coolly turned gaze as she was slowly blinking at him. Then that slow growth of grin a moment. The short lived interaction seemingly helped for Vespera to not be so fearful of him. At least for now. Then she got really bold. Vespera being herself entirely as walked over to him. Trying to walk her fingers up his left arm. “Long……” she purred, just to spin hair whipping up but not enough to hit him in the face, but put her scent into the air. Whorefume, patent pending. She then even tried to grind her butt against him, just to look over shoulder with a Cheshire grin of the devious type. “And… Severe…..?” tone so lust laden it could condense out of the air and onto the floor though preferred upon her face. She looked to Karrie and laughed, “I have never left Port Kar.”

Crow understood when Vespera was approaching that he had given her leeway so would allow her some more when her fingers would walk up his left arm. But he would now allow her to press her butt against him. For she might have felt far more than his cock. The hidden weapons were disguised and for them to remain hidden her butt needed to stay from making impact with his center. The perfume of the girl was of course noted. It was hard not too. He did not have use for such so when the scent of her presence filled his nostrils he could understand that she was a sexual being. It was as if she filled the air with sex. “Lady, I did not see this slave in Ar. I am certain I would have remembered.”he stated. There was a tone of amusement in his voice. Or was it something of a veiled compliment as to say the slave was memorable enough. “Be careful though, slave. My private space is very dear to me. I might protect it quited violently.” and all of a sudden his voice held promise.

The Messengers of the Port

[11:04] Ashiya of TyrosAshiya of Tyros continued on with her dance, with her song, stomping her feet and clapping her hands at certain points to emphasize the rhythm. She felt that the dance was suiting, swaying like the waves of the sea at time, and her hips rocking closely to the sound of wood creaking that could be heard as its own music even on anchored vessels. Not an anthem for Port Kar, but enough that it suited the city. Still, it was only a moment, before her eyes cut through the crowd to take note of one in the distance, and those who passed by, those who stoped, those who did not. The white coat was enough to identify the man and a subtle dip of her head was given as the song came to an end. She looked back at him and waited for the crowd to disperse finally. And that was when she finally stopped, catching her breath, and calming down from her euphoria. How easily she coudl get lost in a melody…

[11:06] 蘆屋道満 Asʜɪʏᴀ Dᴏᴍᴀɴ 蘆屋道満 (azariel.blackheart): ((*black coat… The lighting made it look white..))

[11:08] Haru (cecilia.ushimawa)Haru (cecilia.ushimawa) would follow along behind her master, dark hues flickering over the small crowd gathered. She knew who they were looking for but she kept her face passive and calm, making note of who all was present and who departed just as quickly. She didn’t speak but would dip her head in a non-verbal greet to anyone that might look to her, the leash putting her in protocol as it always did.

[11:11] Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher)Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher) continued to observe the Magician-Thief dance and sing her dooming melody. It caused his head to tilt somewhat to the side, his stare fixed. As the light of the day glinted off of the droplets of gold fixed in his brow and the rings adorning his nostrils and ears, there were a few people who were dispersed and passed him by, greeting him. One asked a simple question about tariffs and he informed the individual to wait until the next council meeting for that information to be solidified. The Consortium’s master ledger was still held at his side and his greatsword that he often used as a cane was uplifted, resting against the leather coats donning his shoulders. He turned his eyes back to Ashiya, seeing her still looking at him. He inclined his head to her then, an unspoken conversation taking place as he watched her catch her breath, her chest heaving, her lips parted ajar. He had noted well the stockings adorning her upper thighs and flanks beneath her dress when she had moved, the golden bangles of her arms, and more. Very little escaped the Praetor’s scrutiny. A movement out of his peripheral vision caused his eyes to slide from Ashiya once again, a man and his slave whom he had seen in passing the past few weeks arriving, perhaps passing through.

[11:19] Ashiya of TyrosAshiya of Tyros took only a moment or two, before she took note of where the Praetor’s gaze had moved, and soon after her own followed. There she would look and behold Haru, and the man to whom she was leashed. She did recognize Crow, but she wouldn’t make a show of knowing who or what he was. She knew far better than that. Still, she would incline her head toward them both, in their general direction. It was almost a shallow bow, but not quite. though she did verbally greet one whom she did have business, “Lord Praetor…” She had caught her breath enough to speak normally at least.

[11:27] Haru (cecilia.ushimawa)Haru (cecilia.ushimawa) would remain by her master’s side. The praetor was noted, the title that Ashiya gave him but she had done her little nonverbal greets and that was as far as it would go for now. Her master was in charge and she was his shadow; acting his eyes and ears while he went into thought Things were peaceful that day. Finally. A small moment of respite though she had reported to him what she had been told. Concerning and an indication that things might not remain silent.

[11:29] Crow (melchior.wardell)Crow (melchior.wardell) observed the scene in silence. Whatever was happening he didn’t want to make assumptions that were not true. So when he noted the woman dance and the other man observing he stood there in silence. Perhaps some would consider it this dark moment in which a life would pass by. The mere suggestion a killer was this close could instill some fear. When he was acknowledged by the mere gesture of a head he inclined his head too. His high caste upbringing and the sophisticated ways of Ar always kept lingering about this old killer.

[11:32] Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher)Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher) lifted his bronze prosthetic from the stone and pivoted back partially, the metal foot clacking audibly as it connected with the stones again. He looked into the council chamber and curled his lower lip against his upper teeth and let out a sharp whistle, causing one of the council page boys to come running out. He handed the heavy book to the young slave lad to return it to its pedestal within the council chamber before he pivoted back towards the direction of Ashiya’s voice. He lifted his free hand, gloved and adorned with expensive rings, and beckoned Ashiya towards him when she called out his title. Finally, he had time to attend her since she expressed desire to speak since yesterday. Unfortunately, dire circumstances had drawn him away and his day had been spent in meetings, but he was now available. “Ashiya of Tyros,” he responded to her words, his own voice – laced with the snobby accent of high caste Physicians – called out to her. Darius did not recognize Crow nor Haru except from glancing at them now and then when he’d spotted them on the streets. “Shall we continue our conversation?” he inquired of her, curious if she would follow him as he took a few steps forward, lowering his greatsword’s tip to the ground to support his hobbling gait. The Praetor was utterly ignorant of Crow’s identity and caste, though he had his suspicions due to the presence of the crossbow with the black robes absent any other colorful ornaments. Darius would not linger overlong, despite his authority. Perhaps this man was one of the Assassins, ready to fire a crossbow through some hated Captain like the raping ram of a ship as it plows through an enemy vessel!

[11:38] Ashiya of TyrosAshiya of Tyros nodded to him. “We should… There are things you should be aware of…” She did want to speak with him in his more official title, rather than as a potential member of his crew and company. There was a moment where she did pause as he started walking, though ready to follow, she took a look back to Crow and Haru, mainly for any particular hint that there was other business to discuss as well. She did remember what she had told to Haru, but she also was not expecting Crow to appear before her himself, and assumed he was out on other business, but she would be a fool not to be aware that she could potentially be his business. She was not so blind to that fact given the events of the last few days.

[11:39] Crow (melchior.wardell)Crow (melchior.wardell) stood still. In a way that he could be a statue and yet – he was ready to address anything that might be thrown his way. His movements were silent as if he had been taught by iron discipline to remain in the shadows and go unnoticed. Yet here he was in plain daylight. Not in fear to show anyone who he was. Not out of bravado but out of that rock-solid self-confidence. He knew that this was the woman that had given his slave the grave news. It had angered him and yet none could have said so. His emotions still part of his life were well confined in himself. At rare occasions he would profess his love to his slave but other than that his social life was cold and heartless. As she spoke of leaving with the Praetor he spoke “It seems you are quite the messenger, lady.” he left it at that … Surely that sentence alone should give everyone of them a shiver.

[11:43] Haru (cecilia.ushimawa)Haru (cecilia.ushimawa) would look between the pair. The praetor, unknown to her, and Ashiya – more than familiar. She didn’t speak, instead simply curling her fingers around the leash that held her attached to her master, letting herself feel it tense a moment as she ran the chain through her fingers. She loved the feeling of the cold steel. The bondage it presented. Her gaze would move directly to Ashiya at her owner’s comment, drinking her in. If it wasn’t known if she had reported to her master what she had told her, it was now.

[11:46] Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher)Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher) was about to move off until Crow spoke up. That, along with Ashiya’s words of him needing to be aware of some things, gave him pause. His body went rigid and his soothing-yet-snobby tone became one of dire seriousness. “If you have business of the Consortium, and wish to speak to the Praetor instead of the Captain, then perhaps here is the best place.” He did not wish to conceal legal matters from the public, and his personal business could always wait. So, he turned to face Ashiya, as well as both Crow and Haru. His scarred face fell slack from its previous smiles and he adopted a professional stance. His eyes lingered past Ashiya and onto Crow a moment, his words still ringing in his ears. Trouble seemed afoot, or so he presumed. He finally cleared his throat and announced himself, so others would know him, “Captain Darius Valgard of the Deadsail Company, one of four Wharf Praetors who make up the Port Consortium.” He then leaned some upon the greatsword’s crossguard, relieving pressure from his stump fitted in the prosthetic.

[11:56] Ashiya of TyrosAshiya of Tyros nearly flinched at the way Crow worded that phrase. Was she expecting to hear that? No. Though that was the confirmation she needed, but how disadvantageous the timing of his approach. She did not know what exactly to make of that particular stance, the man was impossible to read. She had one foot backward just a bit, barely seen beyond the hem of her dress as though she was ready to run should the moment call for it. However, she was looking at Crow, the forehead in particular, the mark of the Dagger. That would have told her far more than words ever could, “I am…when the moment calls for me to be so…” Her confidence in her own abilities was not shaken by the idea of the why they were there, but more so in her ability to get away from a man trained in preventing people from getting away… The Lady-Thief was not a fool to think her chances against such men were set in stone. Had he been anyone but who he was, that would have been a different story.

She didn’t dare take her eyes off of Crow, despite distance between them, she didn’t want to miss the action of him reaching for that crossbow. It would be the only moment she had to evade it should she need. “it is regarding an attack on my person in the baths three suns passed.” It has been at least three days since that attack to say the least, and yet, the business that she had to discuss, ironically dealt with the same man.. both the business between herself and Crow, and the report she was ready to make. However, now she was not certain that this was a moment that was fortuitous enough to discuss matters simultaneously, given the nature of the two men whom she now stood between. Though she coudl see Haru, she was not going to focus on her. The only slave-girl she may have called a friend in different circumstances, and yet.. there would be no insight to be gained from her on this matter. Ashiya had to rely on her own wit at this juncture.

[11:59] Crow (melchior.wardell)Crow (melchior.wardell) would stand in the same spot while his eyes would move from one to the other. His eyes saw much more than just what was on the outside. He had learned that someone’s small movements could tell a lot: A lie or the truth. It was a wisdom he had acquired over many years. Not only in his life as a murderer, but also in the many disguises he used. When the man introduced himself, there was nothing new. Crow had already absorbed more information than many might have known. Still, he bowed slightly without losing sight of the man. “We finally meet, Captain Darius Valgard of the Deadsail Company.” his voice did not held the sarcasm of the many titles when Crow spoke “Crow, Undertaker of the Port.” he introduced himself without the rank he had reached over years. Surely who he was mattered little. It was what he could do in a matter of seconds if he wished. He turned to the woman and she too did not tell things that had not been known to him. He could tell the moment of doubt, the reflection on what could happen. Perhaps some killers would enjoy the mere idea to instill fear yet Crow held little fondness for it. “Ah … ” he replied to her words and did not say much more. He held all the cards before him – making it unable to predict what he was about.

[12:03] Haru (cecilia.ushimawa)Haru (cecilia.ushimawa) was cool, calm and collected. A veritable cucumber of a doll. Chill as the porcelain her flesh represented and stoic in her emotional representation. Sure, there was the usual friendly appearance of her face, the one thing that should it ever fall, woe be to the slave that might have caused such – but she made no further indications outside of her silent, unspoken greets. Her hands were folded before her in that usual demure fashion. Left over right, sharpened and strengthened nails, thanks to Ming’s genetic manipulations, hovering just over her core. There was no need for her to speak. Not in that moment. So she left that to the free.

[12:09] Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher)Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher) slid his gaze to Ashiya as she kept her back to himself while she stared focused upon Crow. This was interesting, especially since she still spoke to himself about her legal issues. When Crow offered his introduction, his eyes turned back to the man and that made much sense to him now, given his attire and behavior. “Ah,” he said as he visibly relaxed some. Why? Because there was no dagger painted on the man’s brow. That didn’t mean murder was out of the question, but Darius saw Crow now as an instrument, a tool, to be paid for on behalf of the Consortium. “I now place a face to the rumored ghost of the Undertaker. I suspect that certain coin might flow from the Consortium to your belted pockets in the coming weeks, Killer.” He called the man by the respected title of his caste, making it known that he wasn’t above employing Assassins on behalf of the city’s administration. He glanced idly upon Haru, seeing her demure folding of hands, his fingers caressing the crossguard of his sword-cane as he observed her. “Obedient,” he remarked. Then, finally, he turned his attention to Ashiya and spoke to the back of her head, “Do you wish to press a case of the matter regarding your assault to the Praetors, Ashiya of Tyros? Do you have witnesses who can testify?” In his capacity of Praetor, Darius was fair across the board, showing zero favoritism to any cursed soul.

[12:26] Aiko Akasuki Laukness (elsamarieanna)Aiko Akasuki Laukness (elsamarieanna) wondering around the port trying to get to know what is were her eyes looking towards the Master and also the Mistress not saying a word for now her hands move to her side

[12:29] That question was the question that answered all her previous question. Witnesses who can testify. For her it wasnt’ a matter of whetehr they were capable of testifying.. it was a matter of if they would… and the answer was clear to her at that point. Though, the idea that the Consortium would employ the Killers only made her relax just a bit more.. but not by much. There was still the matter that she knew things about the Killers that she likely should not have. That alone made her a loose end in some killers’ minds. However, to them both, she would simply say.. “No… no witnesses who will testify.” The only witnesses had been killers and slaves.. and that could work against her as well as for her. She wasn’t going to take the risk.

[12:29] Ashiya of TyrosAshiya of Tyros Ashiya looked to Crow, almost as if she was confirming that she wasn’t going to speak on what she saw or heard inside the court, but the business of the one in question was still a matter on the table. At that point did she dare a step back and look to Darius so that he wasn’t staring at the back of her head, but she did want to keep both men in her line of sight somewhat. “If witnesses are a requirement for such a matter, then I suppose that falls short as it is.” She knew a man like the one in question could nto keep quiet. She had learned that much herself, and how easily she could get a rise out of him. Perhaps that would be useful later.

Turning back to Crow, she asked, “Was there a message you wished me to deliver? Or did you have business with me, Lord Undertaker?” She used the title he used himself. She wasn’t going ot take a chance this time. Subtle messages were being sent btween the group of them, and even in a situation like this, her mind was still moving with the many possibilities of a multitude of outcomes. She would make a point to set her priorities. She still needed work… something that offered coin and a measure of protections that she didn’t quite have. Her vendetta could wait.

[12:33] Crow (melchior.wardell)Crow (melchior.wardell) noted the short reply before the longer sentence addressed to him. Strange as the man spoke of his face. Crow was a master of disguise and with it held a certain art in it to have it appear from this to a warm censor of Ar or a jovial Innkeeper. Crow could adapt to almost any situation, although he too was tested in his resolve. Only a day ago when he nearly killed a so called killer in his court. When the man spoke of coin he inclined his head again. Crow was not a greedy bastard as most of his caste brothers, but held a certain degree of honor and respect to their status within the city. He felt himself a razor sharp tool for those instances when law was no longer a possibility. Surely he would not discuss business, but with the small gesture he made it known to being open for any conversation as to what was needed from him or his caste. When the man spoke of his slave he would give her a quick look. She was far more than obedient and yet she reflected the one thing he wanted from her in this very moment. As Ashiya spoke he learned a lot by what kind of woman she was and could be. “The matter of the man that poses as one of my caste, is it ?” he asks – for this instance he would allow her to see one of the cards in his deck. “I am sure the Praetor might have a desire to know that there is a man posing in the desire to become what … The next Pa Kur.” there – he said it. Now watching how the news would fall upon those ears. Surely the man would have been dead and perhaps dropped in the thieves den if he hadn’t run from the court with his tails between his legs.

[12:37] Haru (cecilia.ushimawa)Haru (cecilia.ushimawa) as picking up the small nuances between them though to the naive she seemed oblivious, her gaze instead wandering to the shift of leaves and people passing. Aiko she could not see. Not from where she stood; the girl hidden behind the large tree and on the other side. Blinded by the large and clearly ancient plant. She was quiet, always keeping her master in her peripheral, that slight tension in the leash that she could see and feel him should any signals be offered. Orders to follow or commands. Obedient she was in all manner of things though at the appropriate times not afraid to speak her mind to her master if she felt there was a concern that should be approached. For now, though, there were none and her Pani-Karian tones remained silent.

[12:47] Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher)Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher) gave a nod of his head to Ashiya and informed her, “You will require witnesses to support your defense, or some other overwhelming evidence. If the witnesses are slaves, then they may be tortured for their legal testimony. Otherwise, it’s just your word against another’s, and there’s nothing that the Consortium can do.” He turned his eyes back to Crow as he mentioned about someone posing an Assassin and trying to be the next Pa-Kur. “Can you give a full account of your meaning, Killer? With something so vast and grave, it should be brought before the Council of Captains. The Consortium handles justice and the port’s public facilities and utilities only. All legislative and executive decisions rest in the hands of the Council.”

[12:48] Aiko Akasuki Laukness (elsamarieanna)Aiko Akasuki Laukness (elsamarieanna) as she had just arrived not to sure what was going on not being able to see crow or haru as the big old tree was in the way .She would stand there hands still by her side not saying a word still as she would listen to what was being said around her .

[12:53] Ashiya of TyrosAshiya of Tyros felt the pathways of that one moment fall away, like the intricate patterns of a butterfly’s wings, now illuminated through the speaking of a single phrase, a decision made and now a path forward presented, until the next crossroads where a decision of her own would need be taken. “I see.” She looked back at the Praetor, Captain Darius Valguard of the Dead company, and now she nodded, decisively. “Then perhaps we should all take a walk that we may discuss this in more detail.” She told them both. She had no issues to speak to them on what she knew, what she had experienced, now that Crow made it okay for her to do so, but given what he said, the specific subject would be the only thing she would speak on, less the man made it okay to speak further, however, that was highly unlikely. The Caste guarded their secrets with extreme prejudice. She would not be the one that met a blade for not minding her tongue if she could help it.

Spotting movement to the side, she did recognize the Slave from the court, bu
Ashiya of Tyros only in a passing glance. She was aware of her, but did not greet her, let alone betray any hint that she’d seen her openly. She looked between the three of them, waiting for Crow or Darius to agree to speak elsewhere. The open streets wer efar too busy fo her liking to discuss matters of such import. The voice of a man speaking in greeting neary was proof enough of this fact. An inclination of her head was given in his direction but no words flowed in greeting given the severity of the subject matter.

[12:54] Crow (melchior.wardell)Crow (melchior.wardell) had now realized that they had been noticed and that some were even standing still. He wanted to resolve some issues quietly and unnoticed. Yet here he spoke of something grave and yet he doubted the man would truly succeed. The man had hardly kept himself professional enough to pose a threat to any man of the port. When Darius spoke of legal matters a brow arched in surprise. Was he truly serious ? Did he truly believe that the consortium would be presented by all facts? Crow would only now move his hand and made a dismissive gesture. “There is a time and place for such conversations, indeed.” he would move his hand again as in taking their lead if they wished to discuss these matters in a more private setting.

[13:00] Haru (cecilia.ushimawa)Haru (cecilia.ushimawa) would take in Darius’ face; the way he stood and held himself and how he spoke. She would be able to recognise him from a distance though this was more out of habit than out of any nefarious meaning. Seeing Elirk, she would dip her head to the man but would not speak. She was silent. Listening and observing.

[13:01] Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher)Darius Valgard (dyce.boucher) canted his head as Crow dismissed his question after just blurting out that there was someone with designs on being the next Pa-Kur. The sudden desire for secrecy with such matters once they were already penny-dropped in public made the Praetor’s left eye twitch slightly. He was already involved in secrets most dire, and there seemed to be more piled on. He moistened his lips a moment, glancing about at others who arrived. A man – Elirk – greeted the group, and Darius gave a ringing clanging tap of his greatsword against the cobblestones in return to the greeting. He then turned to the others, Ashiya and Crow, as well as Haru, and he grunted some. “Very well…. but, I shall not be drawn to the shadows.” (I got RL folks, gonna have to pause my participation – ugh)

[13:05] Ashiya of TyrosAshiya of Tyros took note of what Darius spoke of and then nodded to him, then back to Crow. When Darius seemed to be dragged away toward his ship (assuming such), Ashiya would follow. That was as secure a place as any to speak on this and she’d just use this as a chance to relay all if needed be. To Crow she simply nodded to him, “This way if you would, my Lord.” Some part of her heritage she just couldn’t get out of her… (Gogin to move when you’re ready.)

Port Kar … and the Imperial Topaz

Posted in Black Caste, In the dark of Port Kar on January 29, 2024 by crow1971

[10:37] Andreea Spire (velvet.darkstone)’s eyes would light up by sparkles when she managed to see who was that was approaching her. At first recognizing Haru, the girl’s features unmistakable. Her concerned look caught. Met with a slight nod, that was letting know she was great and dandy. ”Haru.” it was all Andreea said because Crow, with his new look, would bring a slight tilt of Andreea’s head. ”Uncle. Almost not to recognize you.” and it was in an admiring voice that she would say this. Admiring and also laced with joy. Andreea growing fond of that relationship she developed with that man ”I am glad it reached you. I didn’t want to leave without letting you know where we are.” wide open eyes at the man ”Gifts? More of them?” her hand reaching to touch the heirloom he offered her some time ago and with the other, inviting them inside the shop.

[10:39] Haru (cecilia.ushimawa) relaxes after her assessment of the lady, seeing that little nod of the head to reassure her. They had already found the store the other day so everything looked good. So she looked then to the chest and also their surroundings as if keeping eye out for the very things that her master had mentioned though thankfully such activity so far seemed rare in the port. Perhaps as more people moved in, she was sure – as captains and their crews returned.

[10:40] Crow (melchior.wardell) smiled. “This is something different. Something that might be quite lucrative.” he stated. “I imagined you would have another shop as a jeweler. Let us say I have a gem that is quite … the sight to see.” he would wave his hand “Can we go inside ?” he asks “I rather not show it in public.” as he looked about himself.

[10:44] Andreea Spire (velvet.darkstone): ”Of course uncle. Come on in.” she would invite him while stepping on the site to let them both indoors. The store was better looking than one she had in the lost city. And well equipped against robbers also. ”Did you travel for a longer time or you would need to leave soon?” she was hoping the first option was on the table. ”Come inside” she’d insist even more after closing the doors shut. And Andreea’s curiosity was easily read in her attitude, this when they reached the second room. There were a safety box was reigning along with all of her tools to work the stones and metals.

[10:49] Haru (cecilia.ushimawa) followed along behind, the girl’s light steps passing like a giani in their wake as she closes the door behind them. She hadn’t entered the store before, especially the back room, so she looks about as they enter – drinking it all in. A small half-whistle, quiet, to show she was impressed. It was certainly fancier than the store back in lost city and that big safe caught her attention.

[10:49] Crow (melchior.wardell) would place the chest upon a table and started to open it. The several locks seemed to open difficult as if the chest had not been open in a long time. “Now this has a story.” he started “One you might question, but allow me to tell it.” he would take out a very large but perfect cut Imperial Topaz. “This is one of the most sought out gems on a planet that is called Earth. Perhaps you ever heard of it … ” he knew this could be dangerous and yet he trusted his niece with it “The gem was in possession of a man that was known for his business in fine women. So many years I was paid for guarding a man and this was all he had left to give me.” he placed it on the table so she could study it. “I think it is a small fortune .. and it is yours to sell it for me.”

[10:56] Andreea Spire (velvet.darkstone) would wink at Haru, the whistle bringing a smile over Andreea’s lips. But then, there was not more because her attention had been caught shortly by the stone and the story her uncle was sharing with her. ”I feel honored you tasking me with such, Uncle” her eyes sparkling again while they were shifting from the man to the stone. ”It is so big. I will need to find the connections to sell such a beauty. But then, mother was born in this city, perhaps she will manage to open some doors for me. And if not.” the thought of selling it on the black market of course passing her mind. As innocent as she seem and sound in the day to day times, Andreea was the daughter of her mother and the one of a killer. There were other genes sleeping in her.

[11:00] Crow (melchior.wardell) smiled and nodded “Now … there might be men that know of the origin of this gem. As I said it is famous and yet none know I ever had it in my possession. If one recognizes the stone …one might question you for it’s origin. The only true story is that the man Cortius Flamius sold it to you long time ago. Before he was murdered. But you never understood it’s meaning or value.” he would place it back in the chest “I know you must understand that it may not be tainted by blood. Since there is a story that it might bring bad luck … although I can not detest to it.”

[11:00] Haru (cecilia.ushimawa) would look to see as her master pulled the gem from the chest, her eyes widening. Topaz weren’t her own favourite gem but that didn’t mean it was any the less beautiful. She could see now why her master was concerned about thieves intercepting them – though which thief would be foolish to get between a killer and that which was his.

[11:05] Andreea Spire (velvet.darkstone): ”I understand and I shall respect your desire, Uncle” the young Spire would nod lightly as she agreed with the man about her future meanings around the stone. ”It will not be an easy task it is sure, but we both agree easy it is boring.” she was still keeping her eyes onto his, bluntness given by youth making her tease the uncle in a playful manner ”I would have never taken you by a superstitious man Uncle.” and the genuine, soft laughter would fill the room as she once more winked at Haru.

[11:10] Crow (melchior.wardell) chuckles “Well boring I doubt there is something boring in those genes not of your mother nor from my family.” he jested. He enjoyed the directness of her although that of her mother had cut him deep on occasion. “Your mother and I agreed to leave the past behind us. And as to superstitious nah … I never really gave in to those silly thoughts.” although for one moment his thoughts went to his killing dagger and the fact he had lost it.

[11:11] Haru (cecilia.ushimawa) was listening, sticking close to her master. There wasn’t much for her to say at the moment but she could listen and pay attention. No movement from outside; no signs of any intruders and that kept her at ease. She gave a few small tugs of her silks, straightening them and giving the room another scan.

[11:16] Andreea Spire (velvet.darkstone): ”You have no idea how much happy your words are making me. A family is never perfect, but they should stay united no matter.” again, Andreea was still young, was still genuine for life, even though not always easy, life had not marked her yet. So her directness, was indeed softer than the mother’s one. ”Do you have a price in mind? Something you would want me to aim for?” his answer related to superstitions brining another soft laughter. Perhaps she would keep tease the man, just like that, for the sake of family banter. With thought, Andreea would move to secure the chest in that safe box she had in the office. ”I am also tempted to ask for a locking door here. A look over at Haru as she returned to face the uncle. ”And so? Pardon me. Not sure if I caught your answer about staying. Will you remain in the city or return there where we used to live before?”

[11:21] Crow (melchior.wardell) smiled at her being happy and winked “As to the price … I leave that to your capable judgment.” he stated. He had valued it more than a golden tarn due to its origin but again he held very little knowledge besides the jewelry he bought for his slave. When she asked about him he grinned “Would it please you that I decided to stay around ?” he asks “Not far from this place .. Where the dark banners hang.” he stated. “so if there is any need for me … leave a message to the door.” he suggested. “And I am sure Haru will check up on occassion.”
